"Mastering the Craft"

This journey encompasses a lot of information gathering and networking. So it got me thinking about how a novice becomes an expert or a master of his/her craft.  Though it's only a rough sketch and no way groundbreaking, I thought about what I should utilize or at least keep in my cognitive sphere.

It encompasses around 4 main things: People, Places, Resources and Tools.

People: Everybody both within your comfort zone and outside, both within your area of interests and outside. It might not lead right away to where you want to be, but it can have a high a possibility in steering you in the right direction.

Places: Its where to ask or look for help or advice. If people you know are limited, find a place where your interest/s might congregate. Be adventurous!

Resources: Beside the top two things, where could you find other sources of insight. The internet is a good start. People write books and blogs ;) There is something called the library (I don't think people fully utilize this) where similar topics congregate in the form of books and collections. I found some really interesting stuff that I would've never known if I hadn't browsed around.

Tools: Now that you have collected and digested all the knowledge presented, how can you truly test what you have gained or know. I guess it could come in many forms. You can literally ask an expert if what your understanding make sense to them. Take the test in the back of each chapter. Apply your knowledge to a project whether it's your own or someone else. Copy other's or even improve on an existing project.

For those who are looking for a breakthrough, I guess lastly, though I don't solely rely on this, but luck is always good on your side. But I consider luck is only a product of the 4 things.....Well there's this fifth element I'm trying to grasp, but it will be another post...stay tune:)

Colors! Engagement!

I found a little treasure the other day while hiking near University Hills. I believed this is called lichen in which fungi and algae are one big family here on the surface of this piece of rock. In more scientific terms, it's a form mutualism where the fungus receives food from the algae while the algae gets protection and is able to anchor onto the fungus.

I used the "vivid" option on my phone and to my surprise the colors really pop! Beauty in its own sense. Great medium for engagement and discussion. Both in scientific and humanistic terms. I wonder what it would feel like to be a hiker on this beautiful landscape. If algae and fungi are able to produce this spectacle I wonder how the world would be if humans are more able to coexist with each other.

Appreciate nature, stay curious, you might find something you would never imagine.

"Humanizing the experience"

Really inspirational speech. I was digging through some of my past links that I've save (2012) and somehow this one was the one I first clicked on. Maybe it was meant to be. While watching this, it made me remember of the fond memories while I  was in Prof. Sharon Stern's class. She really humanized the teaching experience.

I guess one of the words that would summarize my work  moving forward would be "Humanizing."
I feel it's definitely a profound concept in Design and in LIFE.

Thanks to Daniel Wong for his message. :)

Rough draft of ideas

I made a rough sketch of ideas from what I have been influenced by.  I think it's a good backbone of core goals and values. Now it's just time for execution. Nevertheless, still subject to editing and criticism.

Lets get the feelin' rollin'

Put on a good pair of headphones, close your eyes and listen...one of my favorite bands

Well, I think it's very fitting to kick start  this new journey with some music. The wait is truly over. The ominous clouds have passed  and the winds of optimism and positivity have arrived. Whatever baggage, negativity or irrational thoughts let it go and take the initiative to make a positive change.

Here's another one...enjoy

As some of you have already know, music does wonders in so many ways. It certainly got me through some rough times. Get a pandora or spotify account if you don't already have one and start exploring the various music scene...the power of music...more to come

What this blog will be about:

Well 2016 is the year! It’s been a long journey to say the least, but I am really excited to get this started. My college years were some tumultuous times which have influenced the various themes of this blog. More or less, this blog will be about my past findings and continue journey in trying to understand this multidisciplinary field that revolves around education, art, music, design, technology, human potential and wellbeing. For my own purpose, I hope this could be a sketch book of ideas, if you could say, where I can draw on the bits of information for inspiration.

I hope you will find it enjoyable, informative and maybe inspire you as well! :)

...A little about me...

Previously, I dabbled in some educational work, and then went on to work in the laboratory dealing with microbiology. Then things took an unexpected turn, maybe for the better, and now I’m heading full steam into this venture to analyze this multi-dimensional field. With this surge and vigor of this revived spirit, it is with high determination and hopes that through all of this, it could lead to a synthesis of work that could be of importance particularly to the fields of education, human potential and wellness. I am met with much anxiety, but also am very excited about the prospect of this new journey. I am optimistic that it can lead to something truly extraordinary!
